Task: Create Conversation Entity

Summary

Successfully created the Conversation entity with all required properties and configurations.

1. Conversation Entity

File: Chat.Domain/Entities/Conversation.cs

Properties implemented:

• ✅ Id (Guid) - Unique identifier
• ✅ Participant1Id (Guid) - Foreign key to User
• ✅ Participant2Id (Guid) - Foreign key to User
• ✅ CreatedAt (DateTime) - Default value DateTime.UtcNow
• ✅ LastMessageId (Guid?) - Nullable foreign key to Message
• ✅ LastMessageAt (DateTime?) - Nullable timestamp of last message
• ✅ UnreadCount1 (int) - Unread messages for participant1, default 0
• ✅ UnreadCount2 (int) - Unread messages for participant2, default 0

2. Database Context Update

File: Chat.Domain/Context.cs

Added:

• DbSet Conversations property
• Entity configuration with:
  • Primary key (Id)
  • Required fields constraints
  • Indexes for:
    • Participant1Id
    • Participant2Id
    • CreatedAt
    • LastMessageAt
    • Composite index (Participant1Id, Participant2Id)
  • Prepared relationships for User and Message entities (commented out until entities exist)

Implementation Details

Default Values

• CreatedAt: DateTime.UtcNow
• UnreadCount1: 0
• UnreadCount2: 0

Database Configuration

• All required fields properly configured
• Optimized indexes for query performance:
  • Individual indexes on participant IDs for fast user lookup
  • Index on CreatedAt for chronological ordering
  • Index on LastMessageAt for active conversations
  • Composite index for conversation lookup between two users
• Foreign key relationships prepared for future User and Message entities
• LastMessageId is nullable to support conversations with no messages

Additional Features

• XML documentation comments added for better API documentation
• Navigation properties prepared (commented out) for when User and Message entities are fully configured
• Follows the same architectural pattern as the Message entity

All required properties have been implemented according to task specifications. The Conversation entity is complete and ready for testing in the Chat Application.
